Mockingbird, based on the
novel of the same name by
Harper Lee, brings fans of
history and literature to this
small town each year. The
performances are held at the
Old Courthouse Museum,
which was used as the
model for the famous trial
scene in the movie version of
the beloved story.
Alabama Parks
The Gulf Coast's past comes alive in its historic locations and museums. The Museum of Mobile
celebrates the city's 300-year history, while the area's historic homes bring the past to the present
through guided tours. Dauphin Island's Historic Fort Gaines and Fort Morgan just across the bay
offer visitors an insider's view of the intense Battle of Mobile Bay. Winner of nine battle stars in World
War II, the USS Alabama is the area's most frequented tourist attraction and provides an
education-filled day-trip.

Renowned for its lush greenery and pristine waters, the Alabama Gulf Coast's tropical climate
attracts nature lovers with ease. State parks dot the landscape from Bladon Springs and Atmore to
Spanish Fort and Gulf Shores. The area's world-class beaches, spanning from Dauphin Island to
Orange Beach, are a favorite with families.

The Gulf Coast region does many things well, so if beach combing and reliving history are not your
bag, don't worry. The area is also home to scores of world-renowned golf courses, scrumptious
seafood eateries and world-class shopping establishments.
