Burnaby was incorporated in 1892 and achieved City status in 1992, one hundred years after incorporation. In the first 30 to 40 years after its incorporation, the growth of Burnaby was influenced by its location between expanding urban centres of Vancouver and New Westminster. It first served as a rural agricultural area supplying nearby markets. Later, it served as an important transportation corridor between Vancouver, the Fraser Valley and the interior of the Province. |
Located on the West Coast of British Columbia, Canada, Coquitlam is a dynamic city with a commitment to community-based living. Coquitlam offers the vibrant action of a growing city combined with a beautiful natural setting boasting abundant parks and green space, along with arts and cultural venues and multiple recreational facilities. Visitors are welcomed, businesses excel and residents are valued, making Coquitlam a true City of Choice. |

| Richmond |
Richmond is a culturally diverse and geographically unique community centrally located on Canada's West Coast, in Greater Vancouver, 20 minutes from Downtown Vancouver, and 25 minutes from the US border. Richmond has been experiencing growth and change with remarkable speed, transforming from a rural, local community to an international city with a balance of urban, sub-urban family, and rural areas. The continuing development of the City's downtown core, and the pending construction of Rapid Transit and an Olympic Speed Skating Oval on time for the 2010 Winter Games, ensures that Richmond's transformation is ongoing. |
| North Vancouver |
In the early morning hours, you can see the cruise ships dock here. Then, later in the early evenings, watch the cruise ships as they push back into the harbour (disappearing momentarily on the left side of your screen) and then set sail for Alaska (traveling from left to right across your screen). Depending on the time of day, and amount of sunlight, images of the Vancouver cruise ships may appear faded. Early morning and early evening are the best times to view Canada Place and the cruise ships. |
